Located 8.2 miles north of downtown Boston, Massachusetts, Winchester is a small, quintessential New England suburban town in Middlesex County. It is one of the older and more historic towns in the country. With its close proximity to Boston, many people work in the city but call Winchester their home. These “urban sophisticates” are educated professionals, who like the finer things in life. For the size of the town, public transportation in the area is quite heavily used. The train system has two “Zone 1” stops on the MBTA Commuter Rail Lowell Line. The Winchester Real Estate Guide says that with a good public school district and an overall low crime rate, the area is one of the safest and best places to raise a family.
